Although at first the project Eclipse was developed by IBM, afterwards, the development was carried out by Eclipse foundation, an independent organization that spread the Open Source community and a pack of complementary products, capacities and servicies.

Eclipse SDK is a programming and component compilation platform for JAVA applications, websites or programs based on C++.

The IDE (Integrated Development Environment)of Eclipse is based on the functionality of its plugins which adapt themselves to the necessities of the programmer. This mechanism of modules allows the development environment to support other languages apart from Java.

Note:
Eclipse SDK requires Java Runtime Environment.
